PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Under the International Rescue Committee, World Learning is operating the USAID-funded Pakistan Reading Project (PRP) to improve the quality of reading in public and private schools, supporting at least 2.5 million additional primary school students to read at a level commensurate with standards at their grade level. This goal will be supported by the mutually-reinforcing components of teacher education and professional development, systems reform, and civil society engagement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Drive office vehicles safely and chauffeur WL- Pakistan Reading Project staff and guests to appointed destinations within given timeframes, as directed;
• Maintain vehicle logs and complete pre-trip inspections;
• Check vehicle daily to insure that the vehicle is maintained in good condition; perform minor and routine maintenance on assigned vehicles; identify and report maintenance problems to the Logistics Associate, as required;
• Ensure the safety of passengers through safe driving practices, including but not limited to:
• Using a seat belt and reminding passengers to use seat belts
• Driving within speed limits and in accordance with traffic regulations
• Driving defensively and courteously
• Maintain the cleanliness of the interior and the exterior of the assigned car;
• Assist passengers with carrying parcels and loading and unloading the vehicle;
• Make sure the prompt reporting to supervisor of any damage or repair needed to the assigned vehicle/maintaining of accident reports and informing the supervisor about any such incident
• Run errands, as directed;
• Participate in professional training and development activities, as needed or requested; and
• Perform other duties, as needed or requested.

QUALIFICATIONS Education:              

·         Basic education, preferably up to Matric;

Work Experiences:      

• Previous experience of working in an international setting is preferable;

Demonstrated Skills:

• Demonstrated safe and courteous driving skills;
• Responsiveness to direction and willingness to learn;
• Some knowledge of main routes/roads in main cities of Pakistan especially in Muzaffarabad;
• Knowledge of basic automotive maintenance procedures; and
• Ability to deal effectively and patiently with others.
• Valid drivers' license;
• First Aid trainings;
• Good driving record;

Preference

• Preference will be given to local candidate of District Mzd

Language and Computer Skills:

• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions both in urdu and English language;
• Basic English language skills;
